Quote of the Day: Maya Angelou

“Talent is like electricity. We don’t understand electricity. We use it. You can plug into it and light up a lamp, keep a heart pump going, light a cathedral, or you can electrocute a person with it.”

Maya Angelou, born Marguerite Ann Johnson, is a poet, authoress, playwright and much more. She has given a voice to the struggle of women of all colors with her sharp and fluid words. I received my introduction to Maya Angelou in the ninth grade when we were required to read I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings as a part of our summer reading. I still re-read this classic once every year or so and remain inspired by this amazing woman.
